MT CASS WIND FARM - Cultural

The Mt Cass Wind Farm has been assessed for any cultural and archaeological impacts.   We have consulted with Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu and Te Ngai Tuahuriri Runanga and a Cultural Impact Assessment has been prepared on behalf of Ngai Tuahuriri.    The assessment expresses some reservations over biodiversity impacts but concludes that it is unlikely there will be significant concerns with the application.  MainPower has committed to ongoing consultation with the Runanga to discuss how the recommendations of the report will be implemented and to ensure that any accidental discovery of archaeological sites is properly dealt with during construction.
